Understanding Pharma Pack Sizes: What 10×10, Alu-Alu and Blister Mean
Pack notations like 10×10, 20×10 or 1×5 ml and packaging styles like Alu-Alu, blister and strip appear on every pharma product list. Here is how to read them.

Every pharmaceutical product list includes a pack column and often a packaging column. These short notations carry important information for distributors and franchise partners. This article explains how to read pharma pack sizes and packaging styles, using examples from our own catalogue.
Reading pack notations
Pack notations describe how many units are in a saleable pack and how the pack is organised.
- 10×10 — usually 10 strips of 10 tablets or capsules, i.e. 100 units. See AROTUM-500 as an example.
- 20×10 or 30×10 — 20 or 30 strips of 10 units each.
- 10×2×15 — a nested pack, for example 10 boxes containing 2 strips of 15 tablets. See PARAVENT-650.
- 60 ml, 100 ml, 200 ml — bottle volume for syrups and suspensions, such as GILLESPEE 100ml.
- 1×5 ml or 1×1 ml — a single unit of the stated volume, common for nano shots and injections.
- 15 gm — the net weight of a cream tube.
Packaging styles
Alu-Alu
Alu-Alu packs use aluminium foil on both sides. The cold-formed aluminium pockets offer a strong barrier against light and moisture. FEXOHOP-120 is an Alu-Alu pack in our range.
Blister
Blister packs use a formed plastic film with an aluminium foil backing. The tablet is often visible through the film.
Strip
Strip packs seal each unit between two layers of foil or laminate without a formed pocket.
Bottles, vials, tubes and sachets
Liquids come in bottles, injections in vials, creams in tubes and powders in sachets. Each format suits the physical nature of the product.
Why this matters for partners
Pack and packaging details help partners plan orders, compare products correctly and answer questions from chemists and stockists. Always confirm the pack when ordering, because a brand may be available in more than one pack size. Compare two products only when their packs match: a 10×10 box and a 20×10 box of the same brand hold different quantities, so their prices and stock levels are not directly comparable.
